Hiri, North Lebanon
July 27th – 29th, 2010

On the 27th of July, 2010, Beeatoona hit the road to join the students of the Hiri School in Chekka - North Lebanon, for a 3 day workshop, with the collaboration and partnership of Holcim - Lebanon.

The workshop aimed at engaging students in the e-cycle movement, through providing them with a bulk of information on e-waste hazards and recycling, and giving them the chance to figure out effective solutions for the e-waste problem in Lebanon in general and in their community in particular.

Moreover, students had the chance to create models of their own futuristic inventions. They collected a great number of recyclables from their houses and neighborhood, and used them to build their models. On the other hand, younger students created vases out of empty water bottles and toilet rolls. They were also introduced to the concept of creative writing, which allowed them, by the end of the workshop, to write their own short stories.

On the third day, students gathered, alongside their parents, for an exposition of their work, while the best work of each category was rewarded. Beeatoona was highly pleased to see the students’ sincere dedication to the environment, and their urge to learn more and to come up with solutions for the countless environmental issues, hoping to design a greener future for generations to come.

This workshop is part of Beeatoona’s campaign “E-waste and Battery Recycling for a Better Environment” and was supported by Holcim - Lebanon.
